 Birding with Purpose

At Tarapoto Amazonas Jungle Tours, sustainability is not just a word — it's the heart of our mission. As proud advocates for eco-friendly travel in Leticia, we’re building a future where nature and communities thrive together.

Our 2025 vision focuses on birdwatching (aviturismo) as a tool for education, conservation, and regeneration. We’re honored to collaborate with leading institutions and networks, working hand in hand with science, community, and travelers who care.

REFORESTING PROJECT 2023

THIS YEAR WE ARE PLANTING WITH ECO FRIENDLY TRAVELLERS

251

12,048

TREES PLANTED

pounds of CO2 absorbed per year (approximately).

When you book your trip to AMAZONAS with us, you are contributing to our reforestation project. We contribute 1% of our profit yearly. Besides reducing the carbon footprint of your trip, you and we are contributing to regenerating degraded soil, to create new habitats for fauna species and to support local communities through the generation of legal employments. We really appreciate your support.

In most cases, your contribution is one tree per person per day and 4 trees absorb 1 ton of CO2 in 10 years. In average, each person generates 0,86 tons of CO2 in a 8-day overland trip (flights not included)*. Therefore, most of the trips are carbon neutral.

If you would like to make a greater contribution to the offsetting of carbon emissions through our reforestation project in Amazonas, please contact us.

Policies on Sustainability

Tarapoto Amazonas Jungle Tours promotes only eco friendly and sustainable tourism in the Amazon Region, creating spaces to share inter cultural exchange moments between locals and visitors, letting wildlife untouched and perfect as it is. We are commited to reduce the environmental impact for every visit in the Amazon Region, since this is the only way of guaranteeing the conservation of life. Here, our most important rules to operate eco responsible and according to our principles on Sustainable Tourism.

01

Wild species are visited only in their natural environment, not exposing them to direct contact with humans to avoid the vulnerability and disrespect through the abuse of technology and ‘animal selfie’.

02

Local guides or 'baquianos' are mainly former hunters who have decided to release their shotguns to grab a camera and become 'images hunters' in the jungle, promoting thus, respect to the natural environment visited by the tourists.

03

Visits to the indigenous settlements are carried out respecting a tolerable loading capacity, reducing the impact in the form of life of these small communities. Visitors learn how they live nowadays in Amazonas by carrying out the same activities accompanied by local guides and avoiding cultural exploitation in the region.

04

Regional gastronomy is the main source of economic income for peasants and indigenous people in the Amazon. To achieve touristic sustainability, it is necessary to promote regional products only in the menu offered to tourists who come to visit a place full of biodiversity, where we can find hundreds of species and fruits that allow to provide an authentic experience in this aspect, reducing the environmental impact of each visit and opening new gastronomic fusion markets for responsible eco visitors in search of vegan, vegetarian and regional options.
